
The Mirror attends the 2025 Missouri College Media Convention
Campus, Community, Entertainment, Uncategorized April 30, 2025, 0 Comment 5On April 12, members of Drury University’s (DU) journalism organization, The Mirror, participated in the annual Missouri College Media Convention in Warrensburg, MO. The DU students representing The Mirror were Maddy Bohman, Rylan DeHaven, Zachary Stockton, Mason Leach, and Leila Ehrichs. This is an event that The Mirror has attended and submitted to for critiques and awards.

While at the event, The Mirror staff were able to attend multiple sessions that talked about different aspects of journalism. There were sessions like “AI in media”, “Solutions Journalism”, and “Crime and disaster reporting”. After sessions, there was finally the MCMA Award Ceremony.
The Mirror won the following awards with descriptions provided by Missouri College Media Convention:
2nd place for Entertainment Cartoon went to Ehrichs – “Original artwork with or without captions intended to entertain”
1st place for Feature Writing went to Madison Stahl – “A general feature article or personality profile”
2nd place for Editorial Writing went to Madeline Moyer – “An editorial written on behalf of an editorial board/staff that states an opinion concerning campus, local, state, national, or international affairs.”

1st place for Entertainment Review went to Stockton – “An article reviewing movies, music, concerts, restaurants or any other product or event of an entertainment nature”
2nd place for Entertainment Review went to DeHaven
1st place for Sports Writing went to Kaelyn Southall – “An article spotlighting coverage of a game event, series or season”
2nd place for Best Overall Newspaper went to The Mirror staff – “For schools that have a print newspaper, submit three full issues for judging on overall quality.”

The Mirror is journalism with the goal of reflecting the events and people of Drury University. They are one of the last print newspapers in Springfield, MO. They strive to improve and keep print alive for future Drury Panthers to enjoy.
