The Student Union Board (SUB) coordinates an annual fall festival in October to celebrate the changing of the seasons and all things spooky. This year from Oct. 28 to Oct 31, Drury students had the opportunity to drink apple cider, play carnival games, win prizes and watch the iconic film, Hocus Pocus.

The first night kicked off the event on Drury Circle involving 20 second games with the chance to win prizes and tasting the delicious, handcrafted sodas or crepes from the food trucks.

It gave Drury students the chance to leave the little corners of the university and be able to have an enjoyable time together with friends and fellow Drury students. The second night was held in the Findley Student Center (FSC) ballroom.

The Drury Jazz Collective performed while students painted pumpkins and enjoyed snacks and fall drinks. The cozy vibes were there with soft jazz playing, the lights turned down low and the smell of apple cider and hot chocolate in the air.

The third night, in the FSC ballroom, SUB provided a caramel apple bar for people to make their own as well as huge bowls of popcorn. There was a pumpkin painting contest and a raffle for students to win prizes. There were not very many pumpkins that entered into the contest, but it was still a great time with great people. After the prizes, the students settled down to watch Hocus Pocus.

Austin Ward, a member of SUB, led the event planning and was happy with its outcome. He expressed desire for more students to attend, but SUB exceeded their goal of attendees and was satisfied at the number of students who did participate in their weeklong event.

Corinna McFall, Director of Student Involvement, said nothing but good things about the event planning process, setting up the events and the outcome of the organization’s hard work to make Fall Fest happen for all students. It’s an opportunity for students to make fun memories during their time at Drury University.
