First Three Homicides in Springfield for 2022

In the year 2022, Springfield, MO, has already seen three homicide cases and we are only two months into the year.

According to KY3, the first homicide case happened in an apartment complex. The police received a domestic disturbance call, the woman on the phone notified that her and her children were essentially being held hostage by a man with a gun inside their apartment. The man was identified as Mitchell R. Hooe.

The woman appeared unable to cooperate freely with the police and her and her children seemed to be in immediate danger from the man with the gun. Officers force entry into the apartment, attempts to talk to the man were made, but the interaction turns fatal when an officer responds by shooting the suspect.

Officers attempted life saving measures on the suspect, but he died of his injuries at the scene. The woman and children were not harmed and no officers were harmed.

While the investigation is undergoing, some of the officers were put on administrative leave until the investigations can be concluded.

According to the Associated Press, the second homicide happened at Timberwood Apartment Complex. Police responded to a call at 10:30 pm about a man being shot outside of the apartment complex. The man shot was found dead and identified as Spenser Anderson. No arrests have yet to be made for this case. Detectives are asking for people to come forward if they have any information.

The most recent and third homicide happened outside of a nightclub, Rumors Cabaret. KY3 reports that the man assaulted outside of the nightclub died of his injuries and was identified as Jeffrey K. Brent. According to the Springfield Police Department a suspect has been identified but no arrest has been made.
