President Trump’s second 100 days: an overview
News, Politics April 30, 2025, 0 Comment 5President Trump was inaugurated January 20, 2025, and April 28 marks his first 100 days in office. During his campaign he promised a number of things to the American people if he were elected. Many of President Trump’s campaign promises have either been completed by executive orders or he has tried to complete them by executive order.
According to MSN 15, different campaign promises have started to be fulfilled or have been fulfilled. However, many of President Trump’s executive orders are getting hung up in court. President Trump’s promise and executive order to end birthright citizenship is the clearest example of the difficulties faced when using executive orders to try to achieve legislative results.
Shortly after President Trump issued the executive order on his first day in office. According to NPR, just a few days after sighing EO 14160, four separate lawsuits were filed against the Trump Administration.
Many critics argue that the executive order is simply facially unconstitutional, and President Trump does not have the power to overrule an amendment. Four days after signing the order was blocked by a District Court and it has even made its way all the way to the Supreme Court where they will hear arguments in May.
Many voters selected Trump in November because of his promises made about the economy. After implementing sweeping tariffs to almost every trade partner of the U.S. and even including islands that are only inhabited by penguins, the stock market was in a tizzy.
AP News reports that President Trump had promised that his presidency would bring a “golden age of prosperity.” Voters have not seen this yet and investors are losing confidence in President Trump’s economic possibilities.
According to NBC News, President Trump’s overall approval rating is 45%. However, Gen Z voters approval rates are vastly different at 34%. In terms of the economy, only 39% of people approve of President Trump’s handling of Trade and Tariffs while Gen Z is at 28%.
These numbers about trade and tariffs are specifically concerning because many people voted for Trump because of their belief that he could fix the economy. 60% of people believe the country is going in the wrong direction and 71% of Gen Z believe the same.
While President Trump still has 1,361 days to continue working on his promises the polls show that since inauguration day he has lost some support from the American people. Many of President Trump’s executive orders are being tied up in the courts so it is the responsibility of all of us to stay attentive because these orders are things that will impact all of us.
