Spotlight story: Caitlynn Daniels
Sports April 2, 2025, 0 Comment 15Caitlynn Daniels, a senior on the Drury Women’s Basketball team, is making strides both on and
off the court. Daniels has been stacking up awards since 2022, when she earned the GLVC
(Great Lakes Valley Conference) All-Academic Honor. Since then, Daniels has continued to
earn more accolades, both athletically and academically.
This season has been an especially exciting one for Daniels. At the beginning of March, she was
recognized as an NCAA-II All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association,
selected as a First Team All-GLVC recipient, named GLVC Player of the Week from January
12-18, earned a spot on the GLVC All-Tournament team, and more. She also led DU Women’s
Basketball in both points and assists and ranked second in the GLVC for free throw percentage.

On January 11, 2025, Daniels was a part of team history, recording the team’s fourth triple-double in a
game against Missouri S&T.
In an interview with The Mirror, Caitlynn spoke about the
experience. “It was a cool experience. It’s not something that is easily accomplished,” she recalled.
However, to Daniels, the accomplishment was more than just her own. “I have to credit my teammates,” she comments. “Because they make a lot of the baskets when I pass the ball to them.”
The Lady Panthers have had an amazing season, finishing 22-7 and 17-3 in the GLVC. According to Daniels, the success was closely related to the team dynamic. “We were honestly just a tight knit group,” she said. “Everybody wanted to play for each other.”
When asked what advice she had for younger players looking to succeed as she has done,
Daniels suggested looking at your passions and the people you surround yourself with. “No
matter the sport, do something you love,” she said. “It’s so much easier to commit yourself if you
love what you’re doing and love the people you’re doing it with.”
The season might have come to an end, but both Daniels and the rest of the Drury Women’s Basketball have had an incredible year full of hard work and milestones.
