“Destiny 2 Lightfall” DLC
Entertainment September 13, 2022, Comments Off 58At the end of August, the release date for “Destiny 2’s” new downloadable content (DLC) was announced, and Bungie released a trailer as well. The official release date is set for Feb. 28, 2023 and is now available for preorder. Many fans are very excited to learn more about what this DLC has in store for them, and what this means for the future of the game.
The last big DLC that was released was “Witch Queen”, which was very highly anticipated by the community and did not disappoint. The DLC included access to the story campaign with two difficulty modes which allowed players to receive more rewards, access to a new dungeon, a brand-new raid, a new exotic weapon, new strike missions and lost sectors, and much more.
The latest release was also a huge deal for the lore of the game. It changed much of what the players originally believed about the beginning of the lore timeline and introduced a brand-new threat: an entity called the witness. Since this last DLC was so well received, all eyes are on Bungie to see what “Lightfall” will bring to the table and how it will add to the overarching story of the game.
So far, Bungie has released a short trailer for the new DLC. Because of the length of the trailer, a small amount of information was revealed. However, fans were given a short look into the general style and theme of “Lightfall”. One huge thing that this trailer showcased is the new subclass that is included with the DLC. This new subclass is called “Strand” and appears to be drastically different from the other subclasses available in the game.
This trailer showcased guardians swinging around on what appears to be neon green grappling hooks; this is what Strand will look like. The last new subclass that was added to the game was called Stasis, which came with the “Beyond Light” DLC that was released back in November 2020. Strand seems completely different from anything players have ever experienced in the game, so fans are very excited to see this subclass in action.
Another thing the trailer showed was what the armor for “Lightfall” would look like and some of the new characters we’ll be seeing, as well as the return of certain characters. One of the big things that was shown was the return of the character Osiris and the reveal of an entirely new location. Osiris has played a big role in the last couple of seasons and played a major role in the lore of the game as, so his return is huge news.
The new location is also very exciting because it’s not like anything else in the game. The developers went for a more neon synth-wave look, and players seem to really enjoy it. This new location is going to be on Neptune and is called Neomuna. I personally am excited about this since the game has had to get rid of other locations to make room for updates.
So far, this DLC has been very well received by the community after gauging their reactions on YouTube and Reddit. It feels like the developers worked hard on it and took the community’s suggestions seriously. The trailer was beautifully animated and well done.
