Video game updates to look forward to in 2022
Community, News November 8, 2021, Comments Off 35It is once again getting close to the end of the year, and many video game fans know this is the time of the year companies either announce new games or new content for their games.
There have already been a few announcements for several popular games like Animal Crossing and Minecraft, along with several other news of new games being released this month as well.
Starting with Minecraft, the game had their annual mob vote to see which new mob would be added into the game. A mob is an animal or creature that can either be passive and help the player, passive and not affect the player at all or aggressive. Every year they provide three different mobs for their fans to choose from, subsequently having players vote on the one they want in the game.
Last year, there was a lot of controversy surrounding the vote, because many people strongly opposed the mob that won. Several people felt like the vote was rigged, because popular Minecraft YouTuber Dream asked his fans to vote for a particular mob, which many people felt was unfair.
This year, the vote was between the glare, which would stare at the player when it was too dark and follow them around, the copper golem, which was a mini golem made from copper that would press copper buttons and the allay, which was a blue fairy that would pick up extra items off the ground if the player gave it one first.
Many people were very serious about the vote not being rigged this year and were very vocal on social media about it. The allay won the vote and will be implemented into the game in 2022. Fans seem okay with this result and there is less of a fuss this year about YouTubers “rigging” the vote.
Moving on to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a huge update was announced to be released on November 5 of this year. This will be the last free update available for the game and it is adding a ton of new stuff for players to enjoy. This update includes movement fixes, new hair styles, more storage, new bridges and inclines, vegetables and cooking recipes, new K.K. Slider songs and even new collectables. This update is also bringing the arrival of several new and familiar faces: the long-awaited Brewster will be implemented along with The Roost, a coffee shop where players can chat with their villagers.
Harv’s island is also getting a major glow-up: there will be a plaza with several different shops and even old villagers that have previously visited players’ islands. Kapp’n will be added and docked by the pier on players’ islands and will give island tours where players can discover different flowers and plants. There are also going to be 15 new villagers added to the game, as well as five new amiibo cards. These are physical cards players can buy and then use to add certain villagers to their island. Fans are very excited for this update, especially since there has been a lack of new content from the game in quite some time.
In addition to all that has been announced this year, Destiny Two has new content coming out in 2022, the DLC “Witch Queen” is available for pre-order along with the 30th anniversary pack. Deltarune Chapter Two was released about a month ago and fans are very pleased.
The creator of Stardew Valley announced a new game called “Haunted Chocolatier,” which is stylistically like his first game.
Some new games that are set to come out this month are Call of Duty: Vanguard, Battlefield 2024, Halo Infinite, and Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker.
There will only be more announcements as it gets closer to the holiday season and as this month progresses. There will be another round of all this once 2022 rolls around, but for now, fans seem pretty satisfied with everything that has been revealed to come out.
