Drury Women’s Soccer begins season with exciting wins
Sports September 24, 2021, Comments Off 85The 2021 season is well on its way for the Drury Women’s Soccer team. It has been quite the thrill ride as the Panthers have won 5 of their first 6 games. The Panthers have taken down nationally-ranked Delta State as well as three conference foes thus far in their campaign. Two-time All-Academic GLVC team member Chloe Cash is not surprised with how the Panthers have started their season. Cash says that “All of us are on the same page with our goals for the team and we know what this team is capable of, and that’s been showing in our results”. The defense certainly has been a strength for this team as they have only allowed one goal in six games.
High standards and goals have been critical in the mindset of two-time All-Academic GLVC team member Brinn Cooper. Cooper is determined to “make it to the conference tournament. I think we have a good enough team to be seated pretty high, which is really exciting”. Cooper also is staying in the moment and taking it one game at a time, “It’s still early on, but right now we are number 1 in the conference”.
The Panthers have an excellent collection of talented players. Everyone on the roster is making an impact. Brinn Cooper is a true believer in this squad. Cooper]said this of her teammates, “I think the team this year is the best one in all four years that I’ve been here. We all come together as one, on and off the field, it helps to have a good team chemistry”. Chloe Cash echoed Brinn’s beliefs and says that this team, “if we keep being supportive of each other like we have been, we can keep it rolling”. The Panthers will try to keep it rolling as they take on several conference opponents in the coming weeks.
