EC Arnold’s ‘Theatre History 4’

Senior theatre major, Echo-Celani (EC) Arnold , is the coordinator and main actor in her own show. She is dedicating a lot of time to her project in hopes that audience members thoroughly enjoy the interesting and informative concept.
“My Senior Sem is a Theatrical review of theatre through history, meaning we will be looking at a variety of different plays from different periods in a cabaret style performance. We will be covering everything from Ancient Greece and Rome to Modern Broadway including an original piece written by a student at Drury,” said Arnold.
Arnold’s project is unique and thought out one. She believes that audiences will be entertained and will be learning something every minute of the performance.
“I wanted to create something that could be useful to students and that I would actually enjoy. I love history and I prefer classical theatre to modern plays, so going through history with the goal of expressing the shifts in culture seemed perfect for me. The name came around as a bit of a joke. I suggested the title ‘Theatre History 4’ to a friend, given the context that in the theatre department we have classes called theatre history one, two and three. Since it was an educational performance Theatre History 4 seemed like a good title. My friend responded ‘Yeah, like theatre history for Dummies!’ I kind of loved the idea so that’s the current title,” said Arnold.
Arnold’s senior seminar project will be Saturday, Dec. 7 in the Sunderland Studio Black Box Theater. The show is completely free for anyone and everyone interested in learning a bit about history through the ages.
“Honestly I’m most excited for the rehearsal process. I’m working with some great actors, all of whom are my friends, and I know they’re great talent and good energy. We’re going to have a lot of fun doing this and the performance should be great fun for the audience, too” said Arnold.
