Drury Globe Hop 2019 will be held on Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Findlay Student Center Ballroom. This event is a part of International Education Week celebrating the diversity in Drury’s campus. Globe Hop is open to the entire Drury community, no tickets required.
This year, the Globe Hop has been reenvisioned. Jody Pritt, Executive Director of International Support Services, is enthusiastic about what this year’s event has to offer.
“This year, Globe Hop is being reimagined as Drury’s very own international festival. The event will be an opportunity to not only celebrate the diverse array of cultures on campus but also to experience and learn about the Drury international community,” explained Pritt.
Exploring new places
Globe Hop offers a setting to celebrate and acknowledge the diversity of cultures on Drury’s campus. Pritt is excited about the opportunity it gives international students to present their background.
“International students will display different aspects of their home country and cultures, while also having the opportunity to celebrate their backgrounds with the entire campus,” said Pritt.
Aside from the platform this gives international students, it is also an opportunity for students who have studied abroad to bring back their international experience. Pritt explained how the event is a way for more than just international students to be a part of the event.
“Returning study abroad students will have their photos on display a well so it’s an opportunity for them to showcase their international experiences as well,” expressed Pritt.
Drury’s Globe Hop 2019 serves as a way for students with international experiences to share their culture or exposure to another culture with others. It is a way for students to come together and celebrate the diversity on Drury’s campus. Globe Hop will be the signature event of International Education Week for Drury, for more information visit their website.
