The Impossible Burger in Springfield Part 2
Editorial, Lifestyle, Weekend October 11, 2019, by copyeditor Comments Off 215On Sept.20, Ryan Smith wrote his review of Burger King’s Impossible Burger. Well, Smith is a coward and a fool, and his article will pale in comparison to this, the true Drury Mirror article about fake meat.
For one thing, he focused on Burger King; aka cruddy McDonald’s. And McDonald’s is already cruddy McDonald’s. This article is brought to you by Braum’s.
This review focuses on a local Springfield institution: Springfield Brew Company. They recently introduced their own impossible burgers, and alcoholic vegetarians roared their approval.
Springfield, Mo., the college town that it is, has high demand for vegan and vegetarian alternatives. So after Burger King and other chains introduced the Impossible Burger, it wasn’t long until the local Brew Co. introduced the item to its menu.
The Mirror’s previous article gave some detail about what’s up with Impossible Foods, Inc.: “…founded in 2011 to develop plant-based meat and protein products. The company’s signature product is known as the Impossible Burger, which was launched in 2016 after years of research.”
But the question on nobody’s mind: how does it taste?
Eh.
It’s pretty dry, honestly. I really like Brew Co., their food, and their atmosphere, so this brings me no joy. But it’s really not that great. It was a little bland- the most flavorful part was the pepper jack cheese on top. Maclen Johnson and Smith tasted it with me, and we all agreed this to be the case. And while I have no respect for Smith or his opinions, he did say one smart thing in his life: “Honestly, Burger King’s was better.”
So all in all, it’s going to be a no from me, dog. But, (if you’re of age, of course) their Butter Beer is absolutely fantastic. I still recommend the restaurant as a whole, just avoid that particular menu item.
