Spooky events in Springfield: What to do over fall break
Community, News October 11, 2019, Comments Off 156Fall break is quickly approaching. Are you staying in the Springfield area for the four day weekend? Springfield and the surrounding areas have many different fun fall activities to keep you busy.
When asked about fun fall things to do around Springfield, Junior Haley Mueller had some ideas.
“Some of my favorite paid things to do are paint pottery at Firehouse Pottery, go to an escape room with friends, and the Bass Pro aquarium. Some free options are Rutledge Wilson Farm or Campbell’s Maze Daze in Clever, Mo. It’s worth the drive! The one in Clever has a big corn maze, hay rides, two big pumpkin patches, and bonfire spots. It’s a great place to hang out with friends and you can easily spend the whole day there! Another free activity is having a picnic at a park, my favorite is Phelps Grove. You can also go to the art museum for free and it’s right by Phelps Grove park.”
If you’re looking for a fun road trip, Branson is only a 45-minute drive from Springfield and offers many fun fall activities. For example, Silver Dollar City is hosting its annual Harvest Festival until Oct. 26. This event offers new activities like Pumpkin Nights.
“This nighttime experience for families is an illuminated adventure featuring thousands of glowing pumpkins plus new characters, new fall activities, seasonal flavors and much more,” said Silver Dollar City’s official website about Pumpkin Nights.
Pumpkin Nights start at 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Sunday nights. Tickets for this event start at 50 dollars a person.
Sycamore Creek Family Ranch in Branson is hosting their annual Fall Roundup during the weekends in October. Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to sunset.
“Here at Sycamore Creek, we celebrate fall in an ‘organic’ way that honors the best of nature and farm life. We offer a full menu of great activities for you and your family/friends to enjoy,” said the Sycamore creek Family Ranch website about the event.
Some of the activities at the Fall Round Up include hayrides, a four-acre corn maze, pick your own pumpkin patch and much more. Admission is eight dollars per person, but they offer a one-dollar discount on Oct. 19 and 20 to anyone who brings a new container of Clorox Wipes or Ziplock Storage Bags for the Ronald McDonald House.
Do something during fall break. There’s plenty of options!
