No one likes a cold and rainy day on campus, but Zeta Tau Alpha is preparing a rainy event full of laughter with their annual Big Man on Campus (BMOC). The theme this year? It’s Raining Men! On Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in Clara Thompson Hall, get ready to see the men of Drury compete on behalf of their organizations for the title of Big Man on Campus. The event is $5 in advance or $7 at the door.

2017 contestants attempt to learn the group dance.

Men will compete in categories such as formal wear, talent and the group dance, as well answer pageant-style questions.

Tim Anzalone will be representing the American Institute of Architecture students, and he is excited to strut his stuff.

“The thing I’m looking forward to most is being able to spread my wings on the stage. I was born for the limelight,” he said.

While Anzalone is excited to be in the spotlight, he is also performing to support ZTA’s philanthropy (and maybe to claim his rightful title, too.)

“I’m competing primarily to help further breast cancer research and awareness. I have had family members close to me affected by it recently, so it’s a cause fresh on my mind. Also, I did this my freshman year and I was totally robbed by the judges, so I’m back with a vengeance,” he said.

Proceeds from the event will support Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. The coordinator for the event, Savannah Peshek, said more about the cause.

“The money we raise goes to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, who then distributes the money to our partners. Our partners are Think Pink, the NFL and the American Cancer Society. We partner with the NFL to raise awareness by handing out Think Pink Ribbons at games, and partnering with teams to raise awareness at NFL A Crucial Catch games. The American Cancer Society recognizes survivors at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks all over the country. Lastly, the foundation funds educational programs through Bright Pink that educate women on how to detect and prevent breast cancer,” she explained.

Another performer at BMOC is musician and stand-up comedian Justice Banks. Banks will represent the Drury Theatre Department, and perform original content.

“I’m going to be singing and rapping a song that I’m writing myself. My stage name is Quiet Knight. I’m looking forward to finally performing my own music live,” said Banks. His music can be found under his stage name on Spotify and iTunes.

Don’t miss out on this hilarious night of talent and fun. Support ZTA’s philanthropy and buy a ticket for Big Man on Campus.
