Over 200 employers and graduate schools attend the annual job/internship fair at the Springfield Expo Center. This year the fair will be on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 12:00-3:00 p.m.

The fair is an opportunity to talk to representatives about internships, full and part-time jobs, graduate schools, and undergraduate career preparation and exploration.

“A job fair is a great way to gather information with no commitment. You can learn a little or a lot about an organization by gathering information and asking questions,” said Merri Sutherland from Drury’s Career Planning and Development Office. “You do not have to apply for jobs or internships on the spot. Being prepared can help you feel more comfortable.”

Students should plan to bring copies of their resume to share with businesses, especially if they are interested in a specific company or want to apply for a position in the future. Professional attire is also required for the event. The fair is a chance for students to learn about potential career opportunities and put their best foot forward.

“Job fairs include organization tables or booths where students can find out more about opportunities, network and potentially express interest in positions,” Sutherland explained.

The fair will also allow students to get professional photos taken. Photographers will be on site to take professional headshots, which can be purchased through MSU Photographic Services.

Parking for the event is located just east of the Expo Center in the Jordan Valley Car Park at 815 E. St. Louis St. Some additional parking may be available in the University Plaza Convention Center parking lot across the street. The cost of the event is $5, cash only.

More information on the companies, organizations and graduate schools that will be in attendance, as well as what majors or fields they are interested in hiring, is available on THE FAIRS APP, which is downloadable on Apple or Google Play. Tips for the fair can also be found at www.drury.edu/jobsearchguide.

The office of Career Planning and Development will continue to post additional information and tips leading up to the job fair. They also offer various services for students to utilize.

“Our office offers guidance and resources to help students explore majors and careers and transition into the workforce,” said Sutherland. “A few of the things we offer include career assessments, mock interviews, resume reviews, professional development programming, and internship and job search assistance.”

A complete list of the services offered by the Career Planning and Development can be found at www.drury.edu/files/resources/handout.pdf.
