On Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drury’s Kappa Delta chapter will be hosting “Confidence Building with the KD’s” on campus in partnership with the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland.

A vision for a positive future

Taylor Card, Kappa Delta’s assistant vice president of community service, believes that the sorority being able to host events like this will not only inspire young girls to be themselves but will also remind them to always encourage one another.

“Kappa Delta strives to connect each one of our philanthropies back to the confidence coalition, specifically building confidence in women and girls,” stated Card. “With the Girl Scouts, we try to show them the possibilities of their future, calling attention to their strengths, instilling them with the idea that they can do anything they set their mind to.”

The day will be filled with fun group activities all about building confidence, a pizza party and the opportunity for everyone to take a tour of Drury’s campus.

“We’re teaching the girls etiquette, with the goal that they would use the knowledge to perpetuate their friendships and bring about better communication,” said Card.

Camille Hall and Haley Mueller, sophomores in Kappa Delta, are both looking forward to the event and all the future events their sorority has planned for bettering the female youth in the Springfield community.

“We host events like this to help young girls be more confident from a young age. It will be lots of fun and really beneficial! The KD’s benefit from it as well. We get to share our values and help them feel more confident,” said Mueller.

The goal is to inspire young women to be the best versions of themselves.

“I think this helps encourage them and their friends to become more confident and to overall believe in themselves. Girl Scouts inspired us to become better people. Kappa Delta will also further their ability to learn how to work with girls of all ages as well,” Hall explained.
