This Saturday, Sept. 15th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Ozarks Live! and Savor Grill & BBQ are hosting the 4th annual MO Food Truck Fest in Downtown Springfield right next to the Springfield Expo Center on St. Louis Street.

The MO Food Truck Fest is encouraging everyone to bring their lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a day full of laughter, live music and delicious food from any of the 26 food trucks and vendors that are scheduled to appear.

London Calling

One of the many well-known food trucks that will partake in the event is Springfield’s very own London Calling. Neil Gomme, the proud owner, is extremely excited to once again be a part of the festival for the 4th year in a row. He is looking forward to sharing his culture with everyone attending.

“One of the best parts of running a food truck is being able to share such a unique experience with Mid-West America. Pasties are our most in-demand item on the menu. We have one called “The BBC”. It’s very good and people should give it a try! We want everyone to get to know our food,” said Gomme.

Neil Gomme would not change owning a food truck for the world, and one of his employees, Sara Rollings, mentioned that she enjoys working there more than anything.

“I just started working here. I haven’t been with the company long, but I very much plan on sticking around. Everyone is so friendly, and I meet tons of tourists from all over the world. Other jobs can be very mechanical. This one gives me a lot of freedom. I believe we attract such attention from the public because we have fun with our job and take time to get to know the regulars. Going to events like this gives us the chance to really connect with our customers,” said Rollings.

Breaking the stigma

Both Gomme and Rollings are excited for what the MO Food Truck Fest brings to the city of Springfield and believe that people will not regret the experience if they choose to go.

“It is a super fun event and it brings in a ton of people. I love the diversity we get from all the different types of food and people coming in from different states. This festival takes away a little bit of the stigma that people may have about food trucks and shows off how good the food really is regardless of where it was made,” said Gomme.

“These people are passionate about food. They are artists just wanting to make and share their craft. There are so many choices when it comes to the food. There is such a variety, people are sure to find something they will love. It keeps bringing people back and back again,” he continued.
