Food Trucks on Drury Lane: Taste testing and raising money

Calling all food lovers! If you find yourself starving and not interested in making another bowl of chicken flavored ramen noodles for the third time this week, make your way down Drury Lane on April 11 at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for an amazing variety of Springfield’s finest food trucks!

Food Trucks on Drury Lane will be hosted during the Breech Business Week. Tonya Bolin, the Administrative Assistant at the Breech School of Business, is extremely excited for all of the events occurring and is encouraging students to get together and enjoy good company and good food.

“This is the first year for the trucks, it is taking the place of the campus golf and barbeque that Breech usually host. If the turnout is good, we will try and have it every year during our Breech Business Week,” said Bolin.

The trucks that will be attending this event are some of the city of Springfield’s favorites.

“So far we have London Calling, Twisted Mike’s, Davalon, DNA’s BBQ and two trucks from some current Drury Students, Cameron Maes with Maes Gelateria and Eden Garrett with Eden’s Flower Truck,” said Bolin.

Not only does this event fill the stomachs of many students, faculty and the public, it also gives a lot of recognition to local and student own businesses. The proceeds from the event will also significantly help out the school of business here at Drury.

“The food trucks that are attending are going to donate 10% of their profits to help raise money for our campus in Aegina, Greece and for the Breech Study Abroad Scholarship Endowment,” said Bolin.

This scholarship helps students that wish to enroll in full-semester study abroad programs through Drury. The scholarship can be used towards tuition, airfare, and/or lodging. Drury’s business program goes beyond Missouri. One of Drury’s extensive study abroad offerings is based in the city of Aegina, Greece, where students’ academic work is done in collaboration with the city’s educational, cultural and technical agencies. The 10% of profits made by the food trucks will make a big difference and give more students the opportunity to obtain this scholarship and visit the beautiful streets of Greece.

This event is family friendly and will be open to anyone to explore different foods as well help out a tremendous cause. Come ready to eat and have a fun time along with other Drury students!
