BREAKING Cosima Herter Cancels Drury Trip After Being Detained

Campus News Comments Off 87

This week is CHASS week at Drury, a week honoring the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. Over the course of this week there are numerous events planned within these departments. Some of the biggest events this week included Cosima Herter, one of the consultants for the series Orphan Black. However, Herter will not be in attendance at any of the events this week due to an incident at a Toronto airport.

Dr. Jack Powers detailed the story in an email to a philosophy class, “Yesterday Cosima reports that she was detained at the border crossing at Toronto’s Pearson airport for over three hours by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. No explanation for the detention was given. She was permitted through almost immediately after her flight left. However, after the troubling experience of the detention, and rather than spending the night in Pearson or O’Hare waiting for a flight, she returned home. She is not comfortable with the possibility of being detained again, and so is cancelling her trip to Drury.” Powers went on to apologize for the inconvenience and to the students who worked to put this trip together.

Drury’s social media has already begun posting to state that the events are cancelled, but the university social media has yet to give a direct reason.

This story will be updated as it develops.
